No money no happiness
„Bribes, bribes! They invented the word by themselves to insult good people. Not bribes but appreciation is the right word. And it is a sin to refuse appreciation, gratitude, it is an insult.”
Ostrovsky’s satirical comedy A profitable position belongs to one of a few of his plays which has not been performed by the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre so far. Even in this comedy, you will not miss the author’s acerbity which hit the bull’s-eye both in 1856 and even today. You can convince yourselves about that thanks to a completely new translation which will be created for our production. A young idealist Zhadov believes that he can earn his place in the sun absolutely honestly but it does not correspond to corrupt practices prevailing everywhere around him. Thus his love Polinka cries why they live in material need when her sister Yulinka can have everything she wants. Will the conviction of soul win over comfortableness of a body?
